White hot heat pulses through my veins.
Blinding light obscures all thoughts.
I move on instinct alone.
Threats growling through clenched teeth, words I won’t recall after the fury subsides.
Head pounding, hands shaking, muscles aching, stomach clenching, the supernova recedes.
All that remains is a black hole of regret.
A temper is a nasty little thing, isn't it? You captured it very well, Laura. Great job!
ReplyDeleteWow, it's best not to be around person when that happens! :)
ReplyDeleteDo like the way you use astronomy terms to describe this intense anger and its aftermath.
Oh I like this, so much.
ReplyDeleteIt is a perfect telling of a bad temper.
Nice portrayal, you captured the feeling very well.
ReplyDeleteShort but so powerful. My kind of quick story!
ReplyDeleteNicely done.

I like the "blinding light obscures all thoughts." So true. And often leaves a black hole indeed. This sounds like very adult temper. It made me wonder how a child would describe it. Thanks for the food for thought and putting this feeling into words so well.-Tiffany
ReplyDeleteThis is the 4th time I'm posting a comment Laura. If it comes out 4 times, my IE is acting up-sorry!
ReplyDeleteGreat piece to describe such a strong angry emotion. Well done! :)
That's how I felt yesterday! Well done! You captured it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who works to keep my temper under control, I can honestly say this is how it feels. Really well done. Perfect description.
ReplyDeleteVery descriptive of a trait that we all could do without, yet suffer from occasionally.
ReplyDeleteTemper does indeed blind us to rational thought..
But not to the regretful consequences.
Well described; great writing.
